Pride collection
At its heart, my inaugural pride collection is about everyday Queer joy.
The forms are suggestive, sensual, and based on the human body, but not fully representative or sculptural. The pieces are functional - bud vases, coffee mugs, and planters. They are small things to bring big joy to your everyday.
Queer joy is radical and loud, but it’s also subtle and flirtatious and wrapped in centuries of queer codes and hiding in plain sight.
Primarily neutral, in blacks, whites, tans, and skin tones, the collection also features subtle pinks and lavender hues. This is an intentional nod to the use of color throughout Queer liberation movements - from reclaiming the pink triangle to the rise of the Lavender Menace within the mainstream feminist movement.
I have also made significant use of 22k gold luster overglaze throughout the collection as a source of sparkling, glittering joy, and also a nod to the influence of the Gold Rush on the development of queer culture in the San Francisco Bay area.
The pride collection will be officially released at Silicon Valley Pride in San Jose on August 30-31.
